Good afternoon (aka Wat’up Homies):

1. Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February.16. Please arrive at 5:30 to sign in and hand in your Semester Verification Packet. For the meeting, please bring your completed Semester Verification packet (example attached and posted on Moodle; please attach a copy of your report card, as well) and a four pack of toilet paper for donating to the Salvation Army.

2. For next year’s Executive Board elections, follow these steps:
–go to Moodle and sign up; the choice is under the January options. Click on the “RUN FOR EXECUTIVE BOARD” and follow the instructions. In short, you need to choose what office you are running for, write up a bullet-pointed biography, and send it to your building secretary. This needs to be done by Thursday, Feb. 12.

Preliminary votes will happen at the February meeting to narrow down to 2 candidates; at the March 9th meeting, those candidates will give speeches and voting will occur. The top vote-getter will earn the position; the other candidate will be on the general Executive Board.

Please consider running for Executive Board; it is a great leadership position. While we do have monthly meetings, EB members do not have to turn in service hours, as it is assumed that you will participate in as much as possible.

Canton Gymnastics Invitational

NHS members,

The Canton Gymnastics Invitational is coming up on Feb. 7th and we are in desperate need of volunteers but no one is signed-up yet.

We need volunteers on Friday evening, Feb. 6th to help move the equipment from the gymnastics room in Plymouth across the hall to the gym to set-up for the meet the next day. Strong guys would be extremely helpful in this case and work gloves are recommended.

We especially need volunteers on Saturday, Feb. 7th, the actual day of the meet, to help in the concession stand and help flash and run scores.

If you could volunteer for either one of these days it would be greatly appreciated.

The Turkey Time Challenge

A “tasteful” competition

Plymouth Canton Schools

NHS High School Chapters

Goal To collect food items that will be packed into Christmas food boxes for The Salvation Army in Plymouth.

How

· A competition to be held between all NHS high school chapters to see which chapter can collect the most items (each item counts as 1).

· Boxes will be provided by The Salvation Army and labeled so items can be pre-sorted at collection site.

· Collected items will be delivered to The Salvation Army on December 16 after school.

· Pizza party on December 16 at The Salvation Army to sort and pack boxes

· List of items to be collected is listed below

When Collection will run December 1 through December 16

Items to be collected

Stuffing (boxes or bags)

Mashed potatoes (boxes or pouches)

Sweet potatoes/yams

Cranberries

Pumpkin pie filling

(other types of pie filling are fine too!)

(you need this for the pie filling)

Hello everyone! Do you want to be in the NHS page of the yearbook? If so, please take pictures during community service. In order for the pictures to be included in the yearbook, they must have good quality (no dark pictures, blurry…) and be interesting (no pictures of you and your friends standing around). Take action shots! Also, remember to identify everyone in the picture with first and last names. The yearbook staff needs your help to create an amazing page for NHS, so we’re counting on you! Description: Running the gate at the entrance. Responsibilities specifically include taking gate money and stamping hands. Then checking hands for reentry into the game. Gate will stay open until the beginning of the 3rd quarter of the A game (which is the second game).

Unless otherwise requested, students will be wearing an NHS t-shirt and jeans.

Location: Maybury State Park
Description: Join the fundraiser to prevent SIDS at Maybury State Park on Beck and 8 Mile in Northville for a noncompetitive walk. You will help by manning water stations, running children’s games, face painting, and setting up baby’s memorial photos.
Some could come during the morning to setup and some could come during the afternoon. You don’t have to stay for the whole walk.
